You really have a nice blog, maybe the most complete on the net about samoan food !!! Could you please post the title of the songs you put on your videos ?
Hello! Thx for the comment...About the music, I usually put the artist name in the video details (Youtube) but not the song names...I'll try to do so in future...Happy cooking!!
Wow, manaia tele lau blog. Thanks for sharing with us and am excited to try some of these finally. Funny growing up in Samoa and I never learned how to make these, but only enjoyed the end product! This is useful. Manuia le aso:)
Hi, I love your blog. Seriously an answered prayer for an afakasi like me who grew up with my palagi side :) So my mother-in-law showed me how to make fa'apapa (she's Samoan, obviously)and she doesn't use the baking powder. I like the denseness that results in making it this way, but there's probably as many different ways of making most Samoan food as there are Samoans out there cooking it. Anyway, I've never made pumpkin fa'apapa and I was just wondering if I could leave out the baking powder for this recipe without any serious consequences?? I plan on making fa'ausi with it- which I've never had, but REALLY want to try :) Fa'afetai lava & God bless!
Hi Naomi, I've only tested my fa'apapa recipe with baking powder, so no idea how it will turn out without it...But I do remember my parents making it...Lots of mashed pumpkin, a little coconut milk, and then flour to bind it all together...The texture was was very dense and pumpkinny, perfect for fa'ausi. Good luck!
